WOLF WATCH
Hans Blix, our chief of men, who through a cloud
Not of war only, but detractions rude,
Guided by law and matchless fortitude,
To peace and truth a fair way would have ploughed,
And, on the neck of usurped power proud,
Truth's standards would have raised, and work pursued,
That Tigris stream, be not in blood imbrued,
Nor Baghdad town resound to bomb-blasts loud,
Nor Arlington be wreathed: yet much remains
To rescue still: Peace has her victories
More fair to see than War, whose false stories,
Threaten to bind our world in greedy chains.
Help us to save free peoples from the paws
Of rav'ning wolves, with Markets for their maws.
