I never knew that Arab boy
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Skipped swiftly by the camera's lens
And at our wealth took no offence.

In Basra's houses, parched with fear,
With parents, friends and neighbours near,
We set his mind free - blew his brain,
And never looked on him again.

You smug-faced Blair with lit-up eye,
Who beams when photo-ops. you spy,
Sneak home and pray 'yours' never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.
